Scatterbrained

Walking back to the office after lunch on Thursday, I noted some shards of a broken mirror on the pavement. Each one formed a perfect triangle, and I started thinking about glass and crystal and what it is about the molecular structure of such things that causes them to break in such a pattern. I don't know why my brain wanders to pseudo scientific spheres when I walk; the other day I processed theoretically how it might be possible to pass through solid objects. Everything is made of atoms, and there are spaces between atoms, and it's the molecular density that holds us together. It's comic book logic with the occasional shred of high school science bubbling to the surface.

Researching glass when I got home led me to many articles well over my head, including several references to Zachariasen's model of glass. I got no closer to understanding any of it, realized my brain was probably making stuff up to entertain me until I got back to the office, and decided in a tired and scattered state not to delve into anything deeper than a variation of Scattergories.
