Soundtrack Slices
I do have plenty of soundtracks in my collection of tapes and CDs, and I can think of a few songs that originated in films. I'm going to go with a broader definition though, and include tunes that may have existed prior to a film's release, but were either made popular by the movies they were featured in or, on a personal level, those movies brought those songs to my attention. I can't list every song or list them in any preferential order, but I can provide a sampling of what I like.
Let's rock:
The Faculty
The Offspring
”The Kids Aren't Alright”
Donnie Darko
Gary Jules
”Mad World”
The Cable Guy
Primitive Radio Gods
”Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand”
Spider-Man
Chad Kroeger
”Hero”
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Pink Floyd
”Mother”
”Comfortably Numb”
(I'm only going to list two here, but honestly the entire soundtrack qualifies.)
The Departed
Dropkick Murphys
”I'm Shipping Up to Boston”
Desperado
Antonio Banderas and Los Lobos
“Canción Del Mariachi”
Judgment Night
Onyx and Biohazard
”Judgment Night”
Demon Knight
Pantera
”Cemetery Gates”
Singles
Screaming Trees
”Nearly Lost You”
Singles
Pearl Jam
”State of Love and Trust”
The Transformers: The Movie
Stan Bush
”Dare”
(There wasn't actually a video for this, but someone combined it with the trailer for the new movie.)
The Transformers: The Movie
Spectre General(Kick Axe)
”Nothin's Gonna Stand In Our Way”
(Again, no original video and I couldn't find the specific scene in the movie, so we'll have to settle for a fan vid.)
The Transformers: The Movie
Stan Bush
”The Touch”
Labels: TITMT

The last video creeped me out as a kid and strangely it still does. I don't think anyone really needs to see Stan Bush preform a song called "Touch" :-)
Out of curiosity, how could you leave out Lion's kick ass rendition of the Transformers opening theme song??
Orginal Theme
The new version from Black Lab
Judgement Night also had a version of Another Body Murdered with Mike Patton from Faith No More and Boo Ya Tribe.
Road Trip has a Buckcherry remake of "Anything, Anything" [Originally by Dramarama] that kicks ass.
Who could forget the remake of "Don't Fear the Reaper" from the SCREAM soundtrack?
The Crow had many winners but "After the Flesh" by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult or Nine Inch Nails remake of Dead Souls stand out.
Natural Born Killers and Lost Highway have too many to list. Listen to them both and watch the flicks.
ok, heads going to explode from flood of music selections to choose from :/
Oh, and the entire Highlander soundtrack by QUEEN. EPIC...
Natural Born Killers and The Crow are both in my collection and I had them on a stack when I was compiling these videos; it just got too long and honestly I may have included the whole thing. Like Pink Floyd and Singles, it's hard to choose just one.
I also wanted to include a few others from Judgment Night, like The Real Thing with Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill. Last Action Hero is another soundtrack I love that didn't make this post. I also have Lost Highway but I forget what's on there; I'll have to check later.
That Stan Bush video is so horrid, right? It should have been movie clips only. I wish I could have found a decent video of Instruments of Destruction too, but all I found was the scene in the movie where you hear a snippet of it as Megatron slaughters the G1 Autobots.
And as for Queen, don't forget their rocking Flash Gordon soundtrack.
With the except of the Pink Floyd material, I don't know that I've ever heard any of those songs, aside from as background in the films mentioned.
Hobbling off to suck down some Geritol, now.
The Offspring video is just about the scariest thing I've seen in a long time; just catching up after my trip---your photos were amazing---but even better was the Live Easy post. I'll do the test later this week.
My favourite movie music is the whole soundtrack from Magnolia.
I agree, Queen's music in Highlander is excellent.
nerd-love for the transformers soundtrack!! :-) I've got the CD and most of it ripped to mp3 also.
I also like the Iron Eagle soundtrack (again, Queen has a tune there) and some other interesting stuff.
