Counting Down

123 shopping days until Christmas.

38 days until Serenity hits theaters.

69 years and 73 days until my one hundredth birthday.

69 years and 72 days until the world ends.

69 days until Halloween.

69 seconds until I snicker again like a sophomoric frat boy for no apparent reason.

A little over 2 months until Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes out.

108 days until The Chronicles of Narnia comes to life on the big screen and reminds me why I read the books so many times as a kid when my mom would take me to the library.

Lost returns in 29 days.

Smallville returns in 37 days.

Alias returns in 37 days.

A little over 3 months until Scrubs returns.

39 days until TheWriteJerry's Wedding, and he STILL hasn't posted the comic he proposed with. Some people have no concept of priorities.

18 days until my longest gig of the year. 2% chance I'd find a photo of the band from last year—I'm the one cut off on the left. It's a great picture of my forearm, wristwatch, and instrument.

3 days until a rare work-free weekend. 2 days until a 75-year-old man casually mentions repairing a roof or boxing weeds at his lot.

311 days until Superman Returns

51 days until the one year anniversary of the Nexus. MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

What are you counting down to?

In a few days I'll be counting the days down of school. Not bc I'm that eager for it to end so soon, but bc we have to as part of our "Everyday Counts" Calendar program.

Sometimes I miss some aspects of elementary school, and your class always sounds so fun. Do you think anyone would notice a "big kid" sitting in the back, or do I still have to go to an office every day like other adults?

Holy crud - only 37 days until Alias returns, and I still have found no way to see the season 4 finale! The DVD won't be out until October (what genius scheduled that?), so I am utterly screwed. Unless somebody out there can help me see the episode...WINK WINK

Wait - Lost is in 29 days?!?!?!?!? How is Fern supposed to catch up with Lost on DVD.

Serenity in 38 days?!?!?! Okay, Fern has some time to try to catch up with Firefly.

Smallville in 37 days?!?!?!?! No way Ian and I watch the entire 4th season before then. Looks like we don't get to watch the 5th season (unless I videotape it and we catch up mid-season).

WAIT!?!?!?!? 39 days until my wedding!?!?!?!? How am I supposed to squeeze in catching up with all of this TV and get ready for a wedding??? And I still have to figure out how to get Fern to go see Serenity during our honeymoon...

Whew. I have a little over two months to read Harry Potter 2, 3, and 4. I think I'll make it.

Jerry, has Fern not seen Firefly yet? If she has, I wouldn't think you'd have any problem talking her into taking 2 hours out of the honeymoon to see Serenity. Of course this is coming from a big fan girl, so my priorities may be a little different.

Besides most of what you listed, I'm also counting down to the start of hockey season (41 days), and the opening of the new Pride and Prejudice adaptation (92 days). I haven't been this excited for a girlie movie in many years.

I'm looking forward to your big one year anniversary!

Fern hasn't sen Firefly, but we're working our way through it now. She likes it, but unlike the rest of us Geeks™ she's not a fanatic about anything (except Disney).

I figure if we're going to get to see it opening week, I'll have to butter her up big time with lots of vacuuming, foot massages and flowers.

As for Alia, if nobody can hook me up with the finale, I may just turn the show into a DVD-only thing. It looks like that with Smallville too.

For Lost, I'll watch it and then tape the new episodes for Fern for when she catches up.

She's just not the TV person that we all are. And thankfully, nobody else is the TV person that MCF is :-)

Do 4 shows really make me that much of a TV person? OK 5, I forgot about 24. 5 shows, I used to be a lot worse. OK 6 shows on the off chance The Inside returns. 7 if I keep watching Joey. But that's it. Unless some of the new shows are good, like that alien abduction one on ABC. That would bring me up to 8. And of course I can't forget The Simpsons and Family Guy, and now I'm up to potentially 10 shows a week.

OK, maybe Jerry's right. Damnit. =(

I'm counting down until I get to go back to work, which is tricky because there's no firm date. It's surprising how much I miss the daily grind until it's not there anymore. Plus, there's the whole paycheck thing. I like the part of work where they give me some money. I miss that part most.

I wouldn't be much of a "Mysterious Cloaked Figure" if I allowed myself to be photographed, now would I?

As so often happens, I'm not counting down, I'm counting back---I've been blogging for 1 year and 5 days, it's been 6 days since I had my car decorated, 3 years and 22 days since I retired, 3 months and 7 days since Dave retired, and 1 year since I earned any money. Sort of depressing; no wonder I don't count down to anything.

I'm a mom. Most of my adult life has been spent counting to ten--at which point all hell breaks loose.
