Phantasmic Links 4.12.10

Well, my dad continues to amaze me with his strength of will. After his bypass, he seems eager to get moving, although he'll be in the hospital for a few more days. Oddly enough, his greatest pain seems to be not from the surgical site on his chest, but his carpal tunnel acting up and his hands really bothering him. Also, he had kind of a scary reaction to some pain medication that gave him some interesting hallucinations that I may share another day. Right now I'm exhausted, so we’ll get right to this week's PHANTASMIC LINKS:

(1) A good cry never hurt anyone, and this gallery of geeky tearjerkers is guaranteed to have at least one memorable scene if not more that got to you the way the old man in Home Alone got to George Costanza.
Hat Tip: J-No.

(2) See how an ordinary man compares to professional athletes when running in overlapping video.

(3) This is what happens when GEEKS get TATTOOS. I think these are pretty cool, but I'm a geek.

(4) Metallica's “Enter Sandman” lends itself surprisingly well to a smooth jazz rendition.

(5) The lyrical poets of The Insane Clown Posse take a few minutes to appreciate the beautiful “Miracles” this planet has to offer. I know I'm one to enjoy “F***ing rainbows after it rains”....

(6) Chris Sims sums up DC's recent “Blackest Night” in 60 seconds. Well, that saves me from picking up the trade. Also: the Liefeld and Deadpool reunion in 30 seconds.

(7) Jim Lee shows us how to draw Wonder Woman...on an iPad. Also: Catwoman. And also: Joker.

(8) See Dr. Horrible as you've never seen it before: as an 8-bit NES game.

(9) Does Iron Man 2 have the potential to beat The Dark Knight's box office figures?

(10) Knock it down! Knock it ALL down! That's the goal of Imperfect Balance, the opposite of most physics games but more challenging than you'd expect....

Have a link to a game, movie, article, or anything else you think might be “phantasmic”? E-mail me and it just might appear in an upcoming PHANTASMIC LINKS!
